In 1994, with a heart for seniors, Kristi Townsen left her position as a Vice President at a Lubbock bank and started researching what was available for seniors in her community. With full support from her husband Stewart (who designed and build their facility) and their three children, Heartland House became a reality and the doors opened on June 1, 1996. The family actually lived in the facility for the first four and a half years before building a home next door to Heartland House.
